Helping baby to move birth canal

Heartburn888 · 10/11/2019 19:19

I’m 37 weeks today and I know my baby isn’t in the birth canal yet. My midwife has confirmed this.

I know I have 3 weeks left, but is there anything I can/could do to help my little one get into position?

I think you mean engage. The birth canal is the vagina and your baby enters it in the second stage of labour.

Bouncing on birth ball is one of the best things to do.

Baby will engage when they want to.. you could try a ball or walks etc but wont guarantee that they will work unfortunately x

Sometimes they don’t engage until you’re in labour, so it’s not necessarily a problem. Keep active, walking, gentle bouncing and rotating your hips on a gym ball can also help. But your baby doesn’t need to be engaged before you go into labour.

Mine didn't engage until labour. Midwives actually wondered if my dates were off when they saw me on my due date, as there were no signs baby was ready to come at all, but I went into labour the following night
