Mucus plug? (Warning: contains gross photo)

I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby and every time I have been to the toilet over the weekend I have experienced a jelly like discharge. It is not like discharge I have encountered before so I’m now wondering if it is my mucus plug?

I have attached a photo as it’s quite hard to describe but it looks like snot and is quite thick.

Mucus plug will have streaks of blood too.. your picture just looks like discharge to me but i could be wrong x

Mine was bloodstained plus there was LOADS of it. Sheets and sheets of loo roll whenever I went to the loo

Doesn’t look like your plug, I had the same snot coloured mucus from 30 weeks... I was consultant lead and there were no concerns with it.

I went into labour at 38 weeks after a sweep.. ..

That doesn't look like your mucus plug, just some discharge. You've probably got more than usual due to hormonal changes

Discoballs · 10/11/2019 19:46

Pregnancy vitamins make your discharge look a bit snotty. I'm 38 weeks and have been having similar for ages.

forevercurious · 10/11/2019 19:46

Oh phew thanks everyone, I’ve never had discharge like it before.

Just discharge! O

carly2803 · 10/11/2019 20:13

i had the exact same. I went into labour 2 days later...!

MumsyMum31 · 10/11/2019 21:10

I had this last week as far as I’m aware it can be some of the plug. My first wipe was brownish then exactly like yours. It can still be the plug but labour could still be weeks away. I thought I was going to go but don’t think so now.

That could well be your mucus plug, well part of it. It regenerates, so it's totally normal for some of it to come away at this stage.
Previous posters are confused with mucus plug and "bloody show". It's a common sign of oncoming labour if you lose mucus plug with bloody streaks. If there's no blood, you're fine.
