Watford General vs Barnet Hospitals

I'm after some opinions on Watford vs Barnet!

I had my first baby at Watford and despite it being a tricky delivery the team were incredible & made me feel very safe and listened to. However, I'm now not in the area of Watford and I'm much closer to Barnet hospital. For Watford I'd have to go to the hospital for all my midwife appointments whereas if I'm at Barnet I can have midwife appointments at the very local GP practice. I can't decide! Help!

It goes all of what you can do I guess. I live in st.albans and I having this baby at Watford but I have midwife at surgery and then consultant at st.albans hospital not sure where my growth scans are going to be done. I can not fault Watford for there care at all. What would you be more comfortable doing and going for all appointments?

I had DS2 at Watford two years ago and thought they were excellent (and very different to the shockingly awful experience I had giving birth to DS1 at the Royal Free in 2013!).

There are a few things to consider:

  1. distance to travel to Watford - think about your last labour, was it fast? Do you need to be closer?
  2. What if you need to stay in hospital for a few days or longer due to a complication? Can family get to you easily if this happens?
  3. Are there any services in Barnet you should be hooked up to that you wouldn't have access to as easily if you were to go to Watford?

Good luck!
