Coat to fit over bump

Has anyone bought a nice black coat recently that fits over their bump, but will also work post-birth? I currently don't have any coats that button up (and not just around my bump, around my hips and bum too 😭) but I'm 35 weeks so it seems a bit daft to buy a proper 'maternity' coat for just a few weeks. But it's starting to get cold and I need something that does up!

I need something black, and reasonably smart so I can wear it to work. I'm also quite petite so these long flowing coats that seem fashionable at the moment just don't work. Anyone bought anything nice that they'd recommend?

Mamalicious do some nice smart coats. They're maternity but have a removable zippy bit so they're still wearable after, which is good as they aren't the cheapest!

I'm only 18 weeks but I just bought a black coat from primark in a size bigger than usual. It's a zip up coat with black fur hood. Nice and thick and goes to my hips (I'm only 5ft 2). does me for work but my work doesn't require I dress as smart as some other places.

Go outdoors do panels that zip on to any coat or jacket. They are around £30 though so with you not having long left you may just be best getting a primark cheapy one if it won’t get much wear after. Also check out Facebook selling pages/market place if you do Facebook? I got my new look maternity coat on there for £10 and same coat is still in store now for £59.99!! X

hiya I'm 36weeks pregnant and been managing in my normal coat until now as it doesn't do up and just looks rediculous but I was begrudged to spend on a new coat! found this one from new look for £29.99 free delivery and it's so nice, good quality, warm, detachable hood and goes over bump and because of toggles can be tightenened for after birth 😊 definitely worth it.

not much help but I've just given up doing my coat up! felt a bit daft in the pouring rain yesterday but im also 35 weeks pregnant, and with DC1 my bump deflated immediately so can't justify getting a new one at this point. I've just been wearing long scarves etc in some half arsed attempt to keep my chest warm.

BirdIsland · 09/11/2019 14:58

Thanks everyone, I've been wearing big scarves too but with how windy and rainy it's been, I was getting really cold!

Found this one which I can actually do up, it's super warm and I'm hoping it doesn't look too enormous after I've had the baby:

I have one without a hood (bought for last baby who was due at a different time).... It's useless in this weather! I'm also 35 weeks and struggling on but getting wet everywhere.

I bought a parka from Seraphine - yes, it's a maternity coat, but it has a zip-on/off panel that means you can wear the baby in a sling within the coat once it's born.

Not cheap, though - but it's warm and waterproof so I wouldn't expect it to be.
