Wigan Hospital and Bolton Hospital

I am looking into which hospital I should give birth at, Wigan or Bolton. Can i hear your experiences with either facility

Hi @LadyJadeyJade93 which one did you pick in the end? I’m considering Bolton.

I can highly highly recommend Bolton. Absolutely fantastic maternity department and community care. I had DS2 there and it was amazing. DS1 was born at North Manchester and that was horrific. I have no experience of Wigan though I'm afraid.

Thanks. That’s really useful as North Manchester is my other nearest but I’ve read lots of positive things about Bolton.

I was under the care of Bolton for my last pregnancy and although it ended in MMC and it was at the height of Covid, so there were some (a lot of) frustrations due to new policies, I found the staff lovely and really, really kind, so I’ll let them off the delays etc as we were at the start/height of a pandemic we hadn’t faced before.
I’m now pregnant again and chose to go back to them despite being closer to other hospitals as the staff were so nice. I’ve been in for a scan at EPU due to bleeding and was seen quickly and had my booking appt recently and the midwife couldn’t have been kinder - very aware of my previous experience and did everything he could to put me at ease. Plus, they’re now letting partners come to scans, which has been suspended since March, so that’s a bonus!
