How long after having your mirena coil removed did you conceive?

Just that really.
I had mine removed yesterday and I wondered how long it took for your cycles to return to normal and how long for you to conceive.
Also, what were your periods like with the mirena in?
I had it I for 2 years and had no period at all for the first year but have had a very light regular bleed for the last year of having it.

I wondered if that would make any difference.
Thanks

Hi!
My periods when I had the mirena coil were pretty regular. They lasted around 3 days so I guess they were short in comparison to whats considered a normal period.

When I had it out my 1st cycle ended up being about 6 weeks long. I guess my body was just resetting. Then it took around 4 months until I fell pregnant. Hope that helps!

I had a period 2 weeks after having mine out which was heavier than the super-light ones I’d been having. Settled quite quickly into a rhythm (albeit a long on - 34 days) and conceived 3 months later. That first pregnancy was ectopic, but I don’t think that had anything to do with the marina just one of those things.

Thank you so much.
I fell pregnant with dd very quickly after having the implant removed and just wondered whether the mirena might be similar or whether others had experienced it taking longer.
I know you can’t really guess but thought it might give an idea.

I had my mirena for 5 years, not a single period then fell pregnant the first cycle after it was removed.

I only had my coil for a year and had light but monthly periods throughout it. Got it removed, had one hell of a heavy 'proper' period within a week of it being out and then conceived the next month. I was mega surprised as it took around 6months for me to fall pregnant first time round after coming off the pill. Good luck!

2 years with mirena and no periods

7 weeks after removal I got a positive pregnancy test and my periods had not restarted

I had mine out in July and didn't bleed till September for three days now currently around 6/7 weeks pregnant to be confirmed via scan. As we aren't convinced the bleeding in September was a period. Good luck xx

Thank you so much for the replies and good wishes. I am trying not to stress about it but am consciousness that, at 35, time isn’t as much on my side as it was. I also had a tear to the lining of my uterus and emcs with dd so am hoping that won’t have any impact. Fingers crossed.

Straight away. I didn't wait for a period to return and it never did. Took a test after about 6 weeks and it was positive.

I had no periods with my mirena, kept it for the full 5 years, then had 106 days with no bleed after removal and then the period to end all periods (think can’t go out because I was changing super tampon on the hour every hour!). It was not fun, but now back into a regular-ish cycle for me (PCOS, cycles 39-62 days so far). Planning to TTC in the new year.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 08/11/2019 22:18

Good luck to you dot
Hope that all goes according to plan.

I had mine in for about 4/4.5 years with no bleeding etc, having had a lot of issues with breakthrough bleeding previously with the implant. Mirena taken out end January, first period (normal) beginning March, conceived end of March! Good luck Smile

Had one as a "family spacer" and no periods. Took it out, one period, conceived immediately after.

Had another put back in after no periods during breast feeding, and basically have never had a period again. My son is 10. RESULT!

Thanks both for your replies too.
It’s so nice to hear that so many women fell pregnant quite quickly after removal.
Fingers crossed.
