Hi
I am just after help and advice, I am a mum to 3 boys youngest being 17 oldest 23. I am 44 years old, my partner of 5 years doesn't have an children, we have been undecided about trying for a baby, but know we haven't got forever, what are your experiences, thoughts, pro's and con's of being an older parent. My head is all confused do we or don't we? Thanks in advance for any comments :)

I had a ds at 43 with a 6 year gap.
Uneventful ttc and pregnancy. A blood clot found at 35 weeks resulted in emcs. Not age related I was assured. Just bad luck.
At 5 ds is an absolute pleasure and parenting wasn't harder as a dinosaur dm!!

I'm 42, got a 16 month old and 4 year old. Pregnancy was absolutely fine, both were emergency sections but that's because my giant headed children can't navigate my suboptimal pelvis. It's hard at points but I have friends ranging from a bit older than me to 12 years younger and everyone seems to have the same issues, lack of sleep being horrendous regardless of age etc.

I'm not an older mum so cant really comment on being over 40 would feel being a mum to a newborn but whenever I see threads like these i always think..
Ignore your age it's only a number, how do you feel in yourself? Are you physically/mentally ok? Within your life would it be practical to have another baby? Its great that your children are older as then you wont be running around after toddlers/preteens which is so draining. You already know how hard it is for anyone to have a newborn baby/go through pregnancy so could you do that all again? If the answer is yes then I say go for it. :) xx
