34 + 3 and baby has dropped low into pelvis

Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this too and whether it means baby will arrive a bit sooner or whether it didn’t impact anything at all?

I went for a check up a few days ago and the doctor was struggling to workout the position the baby was in. He went and spoke to a midwife who had seen to me before he did, and I heard the midwife tell him that the baby’s head is really low down in my pelvis which is unusual for the gestational age and that’s maybe why he was struggling to work it out. Once he came back and had another go he confirmed baby’s head is really low down.

I’ve also noticed my stomach shape change and it seems to have dropped lower and I have increased pressure on my bladder - feel like I need to go for a wee every 10 mins ha!

Does this mean that baby could arrive sooner than expected? Or has this happened for others and they’ve gone right up to date or over?

Thanks

Smile

It literally means nothing sorry! There’s no correlation between that and arrival of baby.

Good luck with it all.

Hey its different for everyone but with my 2nd he was constantly dropping down really low the next minute he was back up again I went 1 day over with ds2. I don't think it will mean an early arrival but you never know either I suppose. Good luck xx

This happened to me and I had DS a few days later.
Went to the drs on the Tuesday for my 34 week check up. They said he had dropped and was getting in position, but not to worry as we had plenty of time. Wednesday morning I felt period pain. Thursday night I had lower back pain and what I thought was BH contractions, took a few paracetamol. Friday morning, I was at work (I was an events manager) and just about to start running the corporate Christmas lunch when I was doubled over in agony. My boss sent me to the hospital and 13 hours later, DS was born at 34+5.

If you're worries, just keep your hospital bag in the car/grabbing distance and keep your book on you at all times.

I've carried my second and third babies reallly low all the way through both boys, and all my three have been born early x

Oh gosh I haven’t even packed a hospital bag yet. I’ll get that done this weekend so it’s ready just in case!

I had planned to pack mine at 35 weeks Hmm
Seems DS had other plans! I had to write DH a list of stuff to grab but he was all panicked and couldn't find it all, so he took my bag, went to the big Tesco near where we lived and told one of the customer service staff what had happened and she whizzed off to get all the basics for my hospital bag.

Mine has been low for a couple of weeks now and every time I stand up I have such an urgent need to wee!

I’m 36+4 I just gone on annual leave before my maternity leave starts in a couple of weeks, I feel lazy just sitting down but I’m
Sick of going to the bathroom! Good luck x
