Measuring small?

Had my 28 week appointment today, I’m 29+3 but still measuring 25 weeks. I’m being sent for an urgent scan. I have anxiety anyway so this is just going to play on my mind until I get the scan done.

Has anyone else measured this small? Baby’s heart rate is fine and she’s moving as normal.

On another note there is protein in my urine and blood pressure is high so I’m back in tomorrow morning to have my blood pressure checked again, when she rang triage she was asking about sending me up today but left it as see what happens tomorrow and if it’s still high I have to go to the hospital. Does anyone know what will happen if I go to hospital tomorrow? Will it just be checks or will I likely be admitted? Just want to prepare myself :( I’m a worrier and I’m terrible for feeling guilty about letting work down so I wanna make sure they know what’s going on with as much time as possible

Sorry I have no experience about the high blood pressure but with both my pregnancies I've had to have growth scans because I've measured small at my appointments but at every scan I've had the baby has measured fine.

I've also known people to have growth scans because they were measuring big but again in the scans they were told everything was fine. Everybody carries differently and also a lot of midwives measure differently I've found, which causes confusion. In my first pregnancy my growth chart was all over the place because I always had different midwives measuring. Don't worry. try as hard as you can to relax before the scan.

I always thought that although it does cause you to panic, at least they're looking after you and want to check these things and it's always nice being able to have an extra scan and see your baby again. Did they say how long it would be before you get one?

I’m not sure how long it will be before I have to go for a scan, she was sending it as urgent so maybe by the end of this week or next week?

Blood tests she said she should have results tomorrow.

I hate not knowing, and measuring 4 weeks behind with no growth from last measurement to me doesn’t sound good :( I just hope baby’s ok

Yes, my first child was born early and was low birth weight after they detected restricted growth at 36 weeks (had measured fine until then).

Was monitored closely during the second pregnancy and was measuring small throughout but when she was born at 39 weeks she weighed 7lb so it’s not always accurate. They were happy so long as the flow through the cord and the fluid were ok.

I had to go for a growth scan at 28 weeks too because baby was measuring small and everything was okay, she’s just a small baby! I was told that because I have a long torso, I carry the baby slightly differently as she has a bit more room already in there before having to grow outwards!

I was really worried so I understand how you feel but if baby is still kicking away and heartbeat is good then likelihood is everything should be fine.

Everyone I know who has been pregnant has had to go for a growth scan at some point I think it’s really common because the tape measure method isn’t as reliable.

They will take you to the day unit and your blood pressure will be tested every 15 mins 3/4 times. If it's persistently high you will more than likely be admitted until they can control it. Especially along with protein in your urine this can be signs of preeclampsia.

But on the other hand it can just be discharge etc in your urine. Take an overnight bag in the car just incase, I always tell myself If I'm over prepared then I'll be let home 🤣 xx

I was also measuring small with my first and ended up been induced at 37 weeks as baby's growth had slowed, however this time my bumps measuring small again but had growth scan and baby is measuring perfectly so try not to worry, fundal measurements are not always an accurate representation of baby's size x
