So what IS the consensus re colouring hair whilst pg?

I just wondered if it was still undecided on whether we can bleach our hair or not when pg. Is colouring ok but bleaching not? How does it work? Can you tell I'm bored at work?

Ok so we have gathered that hair dye is ok.........

What about nail extensions once the baby is born.......

DP keeps telling me they will have to go, they are not really long, but he thinks I will sratch the baby with them?? I manage to not scratch myself or anyone else so I'm not sure where he gets this idea from!

Is the midwife gonna come at me with clippers as soon as it is born??

I had acrylics done when DD1 was 2 weeks old - not a good move! Scratched her more than once!

Hair dye - always used while pg with no worries

Underwires - ALWAYS!!!

Im off for a spa day tomorrow (my xmas present from my dad last year!) so luxery pedicure, back neck and shoulder massage and half leg wax will make me feel SO much better!

Jbck · 17/08/2007 22:52

Couple of m/ws commented on my nails being a bit long when I had DD. I manage to put my contacts in without stabbing myself & I can wipe my backside without causing myself an injury - think I can look after my own baby.
They were natural tho' so maybe they were just jealous!

Bugger it, go for the hair colour, I have been throughout my pregnancy as have all my friends and family in the past. My m/w said to try and wait unitl the first 13 weeks were up cos it's better for you and the baby. Colouring can make your scalp super sensitive though.

ive just had mine dyed after much debate (im almost 10 wks) ended up having a semi permenant as less yuky chemicals and amazingly it has covered my grey . from what ive read bleach as in highlights is fine as they use the foil thingys which mean that no chemical actually comes into contact with your head. or so i hear

elibumbum · 20/08/2007 20:53

Daniel Field makes hair dye that is less chemically. You can buy it from his website - google Daniel Field.

I hadn't died my hair and at 17 weeks my roots were really bad. I love having lots of different colours in my hair. Noticed that there was a hairdressors in the hospital & had a chat with her. She put a colour in(nearer to my orig col) and then added some blond & red bits. That way, the roots won't be as obvious when my hair grows again. Felt great afterwards. Go for it!!!

Cazzybaby · 22/08/2007 11:47

I had mine bleached with foils as then the dye doesnt actually touch your scalp! Worked a treat
