Isla

Bodkin · 17/08/2007 14:27

well, we've just named our DD Isla, so i'd choose that as it's lovely, unless your surname starts with a V, in which case you might want to avoid those initals....

Love Beatrix

fortyweekspregnantneedaname · 17/08/2007 14:52

hmmm... DH has just admitted suggesting Beatrix as it's the name of the heroine in the film "Kill Bill"! So that makes it a bit less of a contender from my point of view.

I'll consider any reasonable spelling of Katherine / Catherine / Katharine - I like it that there's the option to shorten to Kate or Katy. We want to make the second name an alternative option for DD (if it is a DD) as Hermione isn't everyone's cup of tea, even though we love it. So the Millicent is there because we like the name Millie. We probably wouldn't shorten Beatrix, Annabel or Isla.

my friend is Kathryn.

isla for sure as Hermione quite long needs short middle name x

becklespeckle · 21/08/2007 11:18

With a double-barelled surname I would be tempted not to give her a middle name... but if you do then Isla is nice, as is Katherine.

Good luck!

mummylittle · 23/08/2007 18:30

I love the name Isla and we are considering calling our dd that, however its the name Frank Lampard has just called his dd2, which has put me off, as the name will now be quite popular.

I like Beatrix too xx

collision · 23/08/2007 18:35

Just to put a spanner in the works.....

Your surname is HH eg Hall-Harrison

You dont think Hermione Hall-Harrison is a bit of a mouthful?

What about changing it round and having Hermione as the middle name?

ie Kate Hermione

Millie Hermione

alicet · 23/08/2007 19:45

I am with collision here... Having a first name starting with H as well as a double barrelled second name both starting with H I think makes it a bit of a mouthful. But your call at the end of the day!

I LOVE Isla - one of my fave girsl names ever and not that common either. So I would go with that personally. ALthough for 2 names that go well together Katherine is better (my fave spelling is Kathryn)
