Hi, just had my 12weeks scan and found out we’re expecting twins. Doesn’t run in the family and was a complete surprise!! Feeling overwhelmed as first pregnancy and trying to take it all in.
Any advise/tips for twin pregnancies??
Thanks

Hi @Klharr! I'm nearly 20 weeks pregnant with twins too. It's scary isn't it? Allow yourself lots of time for the news to sink in as the practicalities of looking after two babies/young children dawns on you little by little. Once the shock wears off, it gets easier. Twins are hard work - make no mistake - but arm yourself with information (and practical/emotional help if you can) and you'll be great.

Try not to worry. Everything will eventually fall into place.

And congratulations :)

Twin, twim mum, twin aunty.

Eat well in pregnancy, look after yourself, try to rest. They will be early (you're unlikely to get passed 38 weeks) and so there's sn argument to say you need to be prepared slightly earlier. Beg & borrow kit (you dont need 2 of everything other than 2 moses baskets and some clothes) and a double pram. Get your H on board now, it really is a juggling act to start with.

Ignore all the advice (you'll be inundated with people who know twins / had twins - did this, didnt do that, swore by the other. Just go with the flow and dont put too much pressure on yourself re sleep / routines, anything like that).

Twins are fab. Hard work but fab. Congratulations!

That was meant to say "an" argument, nothing to do with special needs. Sorry

Congratulations! Mine are 2 and a half now but I will never forget the scan when we found out! It's daunting but it's doable.

I think a routine is important with twins. I also had a long walk each day for one of their naps so I was put of the house with some time to clear my head! Often stopped for a coffee while they slept.

Kit yourself out with at least 2 bouncy chairs. If you can then get 2 for upstairs and 2 for downstairs (friends passed theirs onto us). You will really appreciate having safe places to put a baby or two while you go to the loo, change a nappy etc.

Accept any help offered. Worth having a lion at the TAMBA website - they have just changed their name but I've forgotten what the new name is. Lots of helpful advice though.

Good luck with your pregnancy, rest as much as you can.
