Early labour pains on just one side?

For those of you who have given birth before, did anyone experience early labour pains - the crampy period like ones - but just on one side or the other? I have called the MAU for advice and although they weren't overly concerned, they do want to see me in an hour if the pains don't go away. I'm 40+3 today so would be delighted if it was the start of something but worried that it might be something wrong instead.

Baby may be lay funny and causing the cramping only on one side but I believe labour pains start differently for everyone. With my first I had what felt like a stitch most of the day on one side.. very random I just thought I had walked up a hill to fast.. when the full labour pains came on though they started in my lower back. I always was told the pains start on one side and then move round to the other side but this has never been the case for me and I'm on baby number 3 now. 2nd baby I literally got the worse 'period' cramps at the bottom of my bump which was instantly painfull and full on.. fingers crossed for you that your baby is making an appearance soon for you xx

Thanks for the reply Boymummy3. The pain went away after about an hour so I don't think it was anything sinister. I have a stretch and sweep booked for this afternoon so fingers crossed for me that it gets something going! I really don't want to be induced next week if I can help it.
