Hi, I hated the delivery etc of my DS at Barnet General and the stay at Barnet maternity ward, can anyone suggest another hospital I might be able to request? I know Northwick Park maternity unit is closed. What other hospitals are available for Harrow/Barnet residents? I'm on the border of Harrow/Barnet and quite near Watford but doubt I'll get into a Watford one.Ideally somewhere less busy where I might be able to request a room and not be shifted three times. I don't mind if I have to pay to get better care.

TIA.

I've heard good things about the Edgeware Birthing centre - I don't know how close that is to Barnet tho.

you can ask your dr surgery - they will know which hosps are available - ultimatley you can choose anywhere - technically though they dont always let you. what abot a homebirth?

Hello, I am due to give birth at Barnet, though will also check out Edgware BC (No epidural there though!) What was not right with your last experience?!

monkeychambers · 17/08/2007 17:16

I gave birth at the Edgware Birth Center last year.

It was marvellous. Had our own room with birth pool. Midwife and assistant with us throughout. (v.quick birth) Were moved a few hours after birth as they arranged for us to have a room with a double bed in. A wonderful wonderful experience. I could bore you with how fab....

If you can get in there - I wouldn't think of anywhere else.(Unless of course you want the epidural route)

If you need anymore info just let me know.

Good Luck.

Dont blame you. Barnet's counterpart, Chase Farm is even worse.

I gather Edgware birth unit is good.

I was booked into the EBC but, in the event, was so overdue that they couldn't take me. Have heard v good things about it though. It was actually recommended to dh when he was in Scotland!!

Hi, I was at EBC first but after 17 hours pethedine didn't touch sides and I was exhaused and they took me to Barnet for epidural, total fiasco ensued and emergency c section. I was not supported at all at Barnet, thanks for telling me about Chase Farm, won't go there either.

Might try EBC again they were fantastic, but no drugs! I'm really hoping that I can just have a planned c section this time as I'm very small and it was horrendous recovering from 20 hours of labour and a c section. Thanks for advice.

ps, we're still making the baby so its a long way away!

I had two of my dc at Chase Farm Hospital and I personally thought that they were brillant. The midwives were supportive and very kind. I know that everyone's experience is different, so maybe I was lucky twice. Chase Farm has private rooms that you can pay for.

i had all 3 of my children at barnet and the staff were fantastic.

i have recommended it to others and they too have had only good things to say
