Heavy bleeding and clots one week after D&C

Hi,

I had a D&C a week ago for a MMC. Bleeding has been fairly light, no more than a normal period since until today. In the last hour I've passed 2 big clots and the bleeding seems to have gotten much heavier. I've got like a period pain now too, nothing terrible, just like a normal period pain.

I called the hospital and they said to monitor and call them if it keeps going or I start to feel ill.

I'm just freaking out that something is wrong. Does anyone have any experience of anything similar?

Hi, sorry for your loss, after I had a d and c last year for a missed miscarriage I had bleeding for a couple of weeks then stopped and then few weeks on suddenly had a massive gush of blood with bad pains and a massive clot came out i rang epau and they explained it was what's called a brisk clot had it just the one time and that was it. Did you offer you a follow up scan? I had one for my most recent missed miscarriage in April this year to make sure the surgery was complete.

Hi @Lauraliverpool,

Sorry for your loss and thanks for responding. No they didn't offer a follow up scan. Just said to take a pregnancy test in 3 weeks time.

I called the hospital where I had the surgery and they asked if I was having bad pains or feeling unwell. I've got a niggly pain but not terrible and don't feel unwell so they said just so see how it goes x

@LA89 that's ok I was also told to do the same, could always ask them for a scan . Did they prescribe anybody painkillers? I was given codeine and that really helped with the pain/discomfort. I know that it can last for a couple of weeks it did with me and can take a couple of months to recover. X
