PGS embryo and considering NIPT testing

hi ladies,

I'm nearly 11 weeks pregnant with a PGS tested embryo. last night i got my letter for my 12 weeks scan and I'm worries of possible results. I'm 38 years old so guess results are going to be high due to my age.

did any of you with PGS embryos paid for private NIPT tests? after 2 rounds of IVF we could do with saving that money and i want to think PGS should give us reassurance there is no chromosomal abnormal with baby.

would love to hear your experiences.

The combined test will be affected by your age - make sure you tell the sonographer that it is IVF. They need to know if it was your egg or donor egg. If yours, how old where you when it was collected, if a donor how old was she at collection & that will be used rather than your age now. That is important because combined test is calculated using multiple factors.
If you have had PGD the three conditons assessed for in the combined test have already been checked for, with very much greater accuracy than the combined test will give you. I really can't see a justification for then spending money on NIPT as this is again looking at the chance of things you have already had testing for.
Combined test is worth doing as it included a scan & measurement of the nuchal translucency (this can be an indicator for other issues) and your PAPP_A (placental hormone) level is checked.
Happy to review the combined test & scan report with you in due course as I specialise in this area.

Dear Nanmumandmidwife, thanks for your message and information,

we had PGS no PGD. i know PGs also looks at chromosomal composition but not sure how accurate it is, as its a small sample from outer layer of embryo no embryo itself.

i think all i can do is wait for combine test results and hope everything is ok and take it from there. i worry about everything and now with pregnancy even more :)

thanks for your message again

xx
