Hi everyone. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and went for my first scan yesterday. I was just wondering if anyone would take a guess at what sex I will be having? I am really rubbish at skull and nub theory, but something is telling me it's a boy, plus I feel I can see something that resembles a penis... But might be completely wrong! Any guesses would be appreciated.

Would anyone like to take a guess please?

Based on my specialised skill set of total guesswork I'm going to say......boy🧐 I have no reason for this lol but that's what I'm going with!
Congratulations, happy and healthy pregnancy to you

FindaPenny · 31/10/2019 10:12

Thanks so much 😊
I think we have both been trained in the specialised skill set of guesswork😂

I guessing a girl due to tapered/not broad chin, sloping instead of bulging skull, and direction of nub (I have 3 boys).

Boymummy3 · 31/10/2019 11:00

I'm going to say Boy aswell.... no reason behind it just first thing that popped into my head when I seen the pic..
I dont believe in all the skull/nub theory as baby could just be lay differently lol plus the difference in skull between my 1st / 2nd and this one are different and they are all boys lol congratulations xxx

MockingJay27 · 31/10/2019 11:00

I think boy

FindaPenny · 31/10/2019 11:01

Thanks sotiredbutcannotsleep when I looked online I did think the chin pointed towards it being a girl... But then I did start to think the body resembled a turkey😂 so I don't think I'm very good at this.

Thanks Boymummy3 and MockingJay27 that was sort of my reaction, just a gut feeling it was a boy.

@FindaPenny

I had a 'gut feeling' my last 2 (boys) were going to be girls 😂

Some pregnancy symptoms were consistent with 'typical boy' ones for me though like a wider nose, itchy stomach (apparently a reaction to male hormones in my case) and 'mask of pregnancy' pigmentation around the chin/neck.

SheBloodyNameChangedAgain · 31/10/2019 11:44

Girl for sure!

FindaPenny · 31/10/2019 12:40

Thank you @sotiredbutcannot sleep and shebloodynamechangedagain. I haven't had many symptoms this time around, so can't really add that in as a deciding factor. I have a girl already but on her scan she was all squished up in a foetal position so not really able to make comparisons to this scan🤷‍♀️
Sotired did u have a feeling your youngest would be a boy? Or had you given up guessing? 🤣

Hi OP I would say boy as the forehead looks flattish as opposed to girls which are supposedly more rounded....pure science 😂 best if luck x

FindaPenny · 31/10/2019 13:50

Thanks justasconfused.... Have 7 weeks to find out (if we do find out, we didn't with my daughter) anymore guesses would be appreciated.. Thank you

Thanks spied

@FindaPenny

So first one I was certain it was a boy and it was.
Next two I thought they are definately girls (especially the last!) but nope, they were both boys 🙈. I know that sex is decided via the father but it was still a shock as I'm one of 5 girls Shock

Shadow1234 · 31/10/2019 21:32

I am going to say boy based on flat skull, and also what I think is the nub, is slightly raised.

FindaPenny · 01/11/2019 09:59

Thanks shadow1234 and @sotiredbutcannotsleep

Did you find out at the scan for your three boys Sotired? I get what you mean I have a sister and there is generally more girls in my family.... If its a boy it will be the first one in my extended family for about 25 years. My husband has three sisters and their children have been an even mix of boys and girls.

@FindaPenny I kept the first 2 as a surprise but we found out for the last one as we knew they were going to be our last child so I really needed to know whether it was going to be a girl/boy so I could get my head around it before the birth IYKWIM (i.e. having 3 boys and no daughters 😬).

FindaPenny · 01/11/2019 15:17

@sotiredbutcannotsleep I will definitely return to the thread to update.... Even if we don't find out. One reason we might find out is that we literally don't have one name for a boy that we like/can agree on! My daughter is 9 and although she loves her boy little cousin so much , it might be better to prepare her slightly if it is a boy because I know she would love a girl.

@FindaPenny congratulations either way and best of luck for the rest of the pregnancy. I'll keep my eyes peeled for your update to see if I'm rubbish at analysing scans 😂
