I wanted to know if there are any women with an Underactive thyroid out there.
What's your experiences?
Have you had your dose altered since being pregnant?
Are you under consultant led care etc?

under consultant care. see an endocrinologist every 4 weeks for thyroid bloods, so far, no dose change.

Saw a consultant once. Had regular blood tests but dosage has never been changed. Now 38 weeks

Hey. I have an underactive thyroid and am currently 35 weeks pregnant. My case might be a little different though, as it was only picked up during the pregnancy so I wasn’t on any medication for it before. Having said that, I do know that they usually like to increase the dose in pregnancy and then monitor levels throughout - mine has already been increased once and they’re discussing whether to increase it again.

I am also being seen by a consultant at the antenatal clinic although I expect to be on the midwife led unit for labour and delivery. The hospital also has a joint diabetes/thyroid clinic run between the maternity consultants and specialist endocrinologists and I am going to be seen there as well (there’ve been some gaps in my care so it’s taken a while to get me booked into that clinic).

I have underactive thyroid which was diagnosed as a result of recurrent miscarriage. I made sure my TSH was optimum before trying after my third loss and increased my levothyroxine dose from 75 to 100 micrograms as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Had thyroid retested as soon as I found out I was pregnant and around every 4 weeks since. Was referred for consultant led care and saw a consultant once then discharged. Currently 21 weeks.
