So I'm nearly 14 weeks pregnant, and my god I've never been more stressed. I've been running a dog boarding business and other people's dogs are breaking my soul. They are destroying my home, barking all night, urinating everywhere and I literally can't take anymore. It's my last week doing it, and last night I had 3 hours sleep because of dogs barking.

I'm so stressed out that I'm petrified I'm going to miscarry because of the stress and I'm literally at breaking point.

Has anyone got any tips to keep calm? I literally feel like I'm going to have a breakdown because I find other people's dogs so stressful, none of them are trained, they don't behave or do as they're told. They're all just awfully behaved! I'm so upset whenever I have them in my house, I'm literally counting down the days until i no longer have to have them in my home!

You don't sound suited to running a dog boarding service! Congrats on your pregnancy Flowers

No I agree - I'm absolutely not suited to having this business. I love the dogs in general, but their behaviour and what owners expect you to put up with is breaking me. If I wasn't pregnant I'd be okay, but I have OCD for cleaning and it's going into overdrive since I found out I was expecting!

Maybe only take in trained dogs if you need to continue for finance reasons? It's not fair on your or the dogs otherwise

All the dogs I have flame in 'should' be trained anyway, however it's clear when they arrive that they're absolutely not trained. And at that point, you can't turn them away. I go back to work full time soon so I won't have them anymore, but it's just such a stressful time. I'm more asking for opinions on how to keep calm and how to not worry about miscarriage?

Hi!

I run a Dog boarding kennel and daycare centre!!
You say your stopping but just incase you decide to start up again in the future. Are you Uk? And are you Licensed by the council?
Do you do meet and greet?
Trials?
It is very stressful and gosh it angers us when people say "oh you have the best job in the world, i'd love you play with dogs all day" but if you do it properly there's absolutely no reason to have dogs ruining your life but yes, the cleaning is never ending for sure!

When do these last dogs go home??

someblonde · 30/10/2019 10:06

Hey! Yes I'm fully licensed, do all meet and greets, and paperwork along with it. I haven't offered trials though. We do home boarding, not kennels.

No I won't be starting it up again; the dogs are mainly great but the owners are hard work. They excuse their dogs behaviour as puppy ness when the dogs 5!! I've had aggressive dogs and been told 'oh yeah they get like that sometimes when they don't want to do something' but never mentioned it during meets and greets. Not to mention the separation anxiety these dogs all have! I haven't had a full nights sleep in 13 weeks!!

I stop this Friday thankfully and I'm trying to stay calm until then! Grin

Try some meditation.

Seriously. Get the Headspace app. Give your mind a chance to rest and you'll be able to start feeling less anxious about this.

It's good that you wont be doing this in a week. Perhaps make sure the rest of your pregnancy is filled with calm.

I also found the audiobooks Mindful Hypnobirthing by Sophie Fletcher really helpful. Theres some guided meditation tracks on there that I often fell asleep to when I was pg with DS1. So relaxing.
