Hi I'm a first time expectant mother I've been offered the whooping cough vaccine and unsure weather to have it or not any advice would be much appreciated

I had mine last week (28 weeks) at the same time as my fly jab. Felt fine afterwards.

I’m pro-vacc so don’t know why you wouldn’t Smile

Had mine last weekend. It protects your baby when they are born until they are old enough to have their own injections. It also has tetanus and polio booster in. I had no reaction to it. I have my flu next week. Now that's the one I seem to react to when I'm pregnant!

I had the vaccine when I was 28 weeks. Didn't even think twice about it because I had whooping cough when I was 5 years old. It's a terrible illness and I want to do everything to protect my baby from getting it

I'm having my flu jab tomorrow (assuming Boots don't cancel it for a third time!), and whooping cough jab on Thursday. I see no reason why you wouldn't have it, it protects your unborn baby from a horrible illness until it's old enough to have the vaccine itself.

Please don't believe any of the anti-vax rubbish.

Had mine with both DC. No problems at all.

AloneLonelyLoner · 29/10/2019 16:06

Why wouldn't you have it? Don't be nuts!

crazycatbaby · 29/10/2019 16:06

I had mine with my flu jab a couple of weeks ago, don't know why anybody wouldn't. What are your reasons for not being sure? It's a horrid illness and they will get the vaccine when they're born anyway so this just protects them in the interim

Perhaps it would help you to decide if you did some research on whopping cough? For me it was a no brainer to have it 😊

I had mine at 16 weeks... didn't think twice about it. helps protect baby just incase x

Can't see why you wouldn't have it. I had mine two weeks ago. Bar a slightly sore arm the day after the vaccine, I was fine. Had my flu jab on the same day too.
