Ok so, I am 17 weeks, and I am a dog walker. I work for a company. While you're allowed to take your children with you on walks, I don't think taking a baby with me is the most responsible thing. Now, I don't earn enough to cover childcare. Nor does my partner. But I love my job and it's the first job I've had in ages due to having 2 other children and not being able to find one that's between school hours. I'm thinking I'm going to have to quit my job when the time comes. Which really gets to me. Is there any way around this or am I just going to have to face the music?

Thanks x

It's not just getting out and about it's the feeds etc. I walk up to 6 dogs at a time. Sometimes twice a day. I have to go into peoples homes to pick up the dogs which obviously means taking the baby out every time I stop at a house etc. X

I have my own dog, and walk her. But it's different when I'm working. Especially when some of the dogs are quite temperamental too. X

Will you be taking maternity leave initially?

Perhaps then ask if you could do different hours so you and your partner can share the childcare of the baby so you can still work?

User0000011 · 28/10/2019 18:21

I only work between 10.30 and 2.30 each day. Other than weekends. My partner works 8.30 to 4.30.
I could take maternity, it's a zero hr contract so obviously what I dont work, I dont get paid x
