Hi ladies,

I'm 33 +1 and I've lost part of my plug a few hours ago. I've had Braxton hicks all day nothing painful but can definitely feel pressure. Baby has started going crazy over the past half hour or so and I've started feeling extremely sick and as if my heart is racing.

Should I phone midwife? I don't want to just be over dramatic 🙈.

Has anyone had anything similar?

Thanks xxx

I would ring triage and go and get checked. It’s a bit early if baby starts to show signs of coming. It might be all good but don’t hesitate to go and get checked.

I've had similar quite frequently for the last couple of weeks but hasn't meant anything for me. But I would always encourage people if in doubt get checked out

Thanks ladies,

@Jollitwiglet this is what I'm thinking however, my first was born at 37 weeks which I know is still 4 weeks away but the closer I'm getting the more I'm panicking 🙈.
@Monique007 I will monitor it and if I don't feel any better in an hour I'm going to go

I'd personally never ask strangers on the internet about a medical issue, especially one to do with an unborn child. I'd be either straight on the phone to a midwife or at least talking with someone I know & trust first if possible.

I would ring and see what they say. Even if they tell you to stay at home and see how you are, I think it's at least worth a phone call

sherbetmelon · 27/10/2019 23:07

Phone them at least, just to put your mind at rest if anything

AuntieMaggie · 27/10/2019 23:10

Phone the midwife - any changes in movement should be checked out including baby going crazy especially given your other symptoms

Fuiseog · 28/10/2019 04:20

Our midwife said we should present at hospital if the plug appears before 37 weeks, just so they can check everything.

I thought I had lost some of my plug early with my 1st and phoned them up they had me straight in to check an monitor babies movements.. for me all was fine and it wasnt even my plug but they would much rather get you checked out that you leaving it. Xx

I spoke to midwife she said it's normal to lose plug earlier with second as your cervix never fully closes like before.

I lost more yesterday, she just said to monitor the Braxton Hicks and if at any point become uncomfortable or painful ring triage ASAP x
