Cold when pregnant?

Hi, I’m 20 weeks + 3, I had the flu jab exactly two weeks yesterday. But I have a horrific sore throat, every time I swallow it hurts and I have an ear ache too. I was just wondering if I should just ride it out or should I go to my midwife or gp? Just don’t want to hurt or cause any harm to baby I also had a bit of a headache when I woke but had paracetomal, got rid of my headache but no luck with the sore throat.

I wouldn't bother with midwife or gp unless you get a high temperature or cant drink water. There is nothing they gan give you or do to help you.

For sore throat try gargling with salt water. Unfortunately a cold is one of those things you just have to wait until it goes away pregnant or not.

Same as PP I wouldnt bother going to gp or midwife as there isnt anything really they could give you apart from antibiotics from gp but that's depending what's wrong with you. I was like this weeks ago and only thing I could have was paracetamol for headaches etc and the soothing cough sweets.. not stepcils or anything though, speak with pharmacy and they will advise what you can do for your throat x

annoyingly there isn't much you can do for a cold when pregnant! I've had so many this pregnancy.

Try hot honey and lemon in tea or warm squash to sooth a throat. Paracetamol is fine if you need it. Plenty of rest and fluids

I’ve had the mother of all colds for the last 10 days. Everything hurts. My head, my face, my ears, my throat, my chest, my back, my bump from none stop coughing 😩 I just can’t seem to shake it off, it’s driving me insane!

Colds can’t hurt baby, they are just rubbish for mum. If you get a high temp, then worth a check up but otherwise. For sore throat, I drink a lot of hot Ribena & paracetamol for all other aches & pains! Lots of orange juice.. the usual!

The flu vaccine isnt a live vaccine (its not made with a live virus) so im not sure if its relevant.

Its just a cold! Rest more and eat well, but its the same recovery process as any other cold.

Same here. Had a cold for the past week. Laryngitis and a cough that's not going anywhere. Lots of fluids and rest will hopefully help eventually. Pregnancy is a state of immuno suppression so we don't attack these little parasites inside us
