Booking blood test results

Hi.

I had my booking appointment last week and bloods taken. I've just checked my online maternity notes and the results have come back. All say negative except for HIV which just says confidential result...anybody know what this means?!

I'm irrationally worried about it! I'm quite sure that the result will be negative.

I haven't had any phone calls from the midwife.

Thanks in advance.

Think it's a normal thing, mine says the same and has never changed. However when I had my 16 week midwife app, she just said my bloods looked good last time.

Dont worry, it it were to be positive you would have definitely been told

I think it’s because in some cases people don’t want to know as you have to declare it and it can prohibit you from certain jobs and getting mortgages etc. I know when my DH had to have a medical for a visa years ago they asked him if he wanted to know.

Your midwife would have been in contact if it came back positive.

HIV results are generally treated with more sensitivity than other tests. When I used to work in a lab, we would input clinical details into the computer for each set of blood tests. If there was any mention of HIV it wouldn't be input into the computer. Instead of identifying which bloods came from patients with HIV, we had to treat all samples as though they could potentially have blood borne viruses.

It means the receptionist can’t read it. But the midwife should be able to get into the result to read it.
