Really scared about paracetamol

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my second baby who is a boy. I've been very ill since Sunday and spent nearly a week in hospital due to very high fever. In the end it was considered to be viral and there is nothing else that can be done apart from drinking plenty and taking paracetamol. I've been given IV paracetamol and then orally, too, for nearly a week. 1g 4 times a day which is a maximum dose for nearly a week, and I still have to keep taking it as the temperature keeps going up to nearly 40 before next dose is even due. I'm absolutely exhausted with it and very ill so I understand it's important to take it, however I've just read that apparently too much paracetamol could result in testosterone problems in male babies! I'm worried sick. I'd like to hear from other women who had to have a lot of paracetamol while pregnant and whether it had any adverse effect on their sons? Thanks in advance!

Hi love, GP here.
I'm so sorry you are so poorly. I think taking paracetamol is much safer than having a temperature of 40 degrees. Are they sure it's viral? Where from?
If you have any concerns I would go to ED since I would be surprised if you can get advice via maternity triage at this time.

Pharmacist here, agree with @thosethreewords, there is no evidence that paracetamol is dangerous during pregnancy so long as you stay within the recommended dose limits.

Are you still in hospital? If not you should be if your temperature is still that high. You need monitoring.

Thanks to you both. I've been in hospital since last Sunday on a drip and they did all possible tests you can imagine. Everything is normal. So they concluded it's either a flu (however a test for flu also came back negative) or something viral. They discharged me today despite having seen the way I am, but they said eventually I just need to ride it out. I take paracetamol every 6h but my biggest problem is that the temperature starts spiking way before the 6h are up and then I'm stuck with 39.6 for 1-2h waiting in agony. I'm absolutely petrified of the effects this paracetamol can cause, but thanks for a bit of reassurance...Sad
