Was very happy to see a heartbeat at six week scan but was also told my uterus was heart shaped. I have never with all the fertility treatment been told this and now of course I'm panicking because baby looks to be in smallest part. Does any one have stories related to a heart shaped uterus? How much should I worry? Xx

Hi, I have a heart shaped uterus and two beautiful primary aged girls 😊. No problems at all with baby development and growth. They were both unstable lie, so never settled into the pelvis and kept moving, so I ended up with a week in hospital just for monitoring and c sections for both (everyone they turned them to induce me they turned around again 😂), which they said might have been linked to heart shaped uteris but that wasn't definite.

I was told this about 12 years ago and panicked. Had had 2 MCs, made this mistake of googling, etc.

Good friend who is a doctor pointed out that obviously organs are not all perfectly round or whatever and I shouldn't worry.

Have 3 happy healthy DC now and nobody ever mentioned the "heart shaped uterus" again.

So, if it's never come up before then surely it's not very significant and I would put it out of your mind if you can! Thanks

The monitoring was due to the unstable lie as they don't want your waters to break and have them land on the umbilical cord. With me no issues were ever made over the baby during development it all seemed to be around the birth and the consultants were keen for me to have sections.

I was told this at a private 8 week scan. Phoned the midwife in a panic who told me to chill, and by my 12 week scan they said they couldn't see it at all.

Now 30 weeks and all seems to be fine.

Hi, I am currently 12 weeks with my first pregnancy and was told I had a heart shaped uterus before I fell pregnant. I had quite heavy bright red bleeding from about week 8 - 10 but have had an early scan, baby was fine and they advised they think it’s was the other side of my uterus losing its lining! So just some reassurance if you ever do see bleeding it doesn’t necessarily mean the worst! I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday so fingers crosses everything is okay! When I asked my midwife at my 10 week appointment would everything be okay with the baby’s growth she reassured me that everything would stretch and it shouldn’t make much of a difference to the growth, hope that helps x

Hi,
I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant, I have a heart shaped uterus that was diagnosed at my 12 weeks scan.
I’ve had a couple of big bleeds at 8 and 13 weeks, this can be a common symptom.
I am under a consultant now who I will be seeing every 4 weeks for additional checks and scans as it can cause growth restrictions and also a slightly raised chance of premature birth. I have been advised to take aspirin daily to promote the growth of the baby.

I would push for a consultant appointment if possible.

Oh and don’t google it! I did and it terrified me!

Hi everyone.

So interesting reading everyones stories. I have a heart shaped uterus also. They have said the dip is severe?. That's scared me a bit. I dont have any children. And have had two consectuvive miscarriages. My last pregnancy was a twin pregnancy. I have been for scans to see how dipped my uturus is. My gp has been lovely and is getting some info from gynecology. But she has said if/when I next get pregnant I would be classed as high risk due to this and the chances of me having a vaginal birth are low. They would normally recomned a section. I am just curious to your outcomes really. I did the stupid thing and googled it and its scared the crap out of me haha. Any advice or info would be much appreciated. Xxx
