Ivf fet 6wk viability scan-my worst nightmare just became real

After three months our first ivf freeze all we had only two embryos on ice and put one back in last month and to our delight blood test was positive. Today went to viability scan and nothing, absolutely nothing. I’m gutted. When DH asked why it was such outcome dr just said probably down to my age (41!), they did another blood test which now said negative. We have that last one on ice but really do wonder if any hope. Anyone here had any success after first fet fail? Feel like I need to hold onto something.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. It's devastating to get a positive test, feel all the excitement and then have it taken away, especially after IVF. I hope that you're okay and that your next FET is a success.

We had a similar situation and now have 2 children. IVF is very very hard and it’s important to be kind to yourself as you go through it. I wish you luck with your next FET x

thanks all, here’s hoping next one works. In meantime going to focus on my health as I’ve gained weight during this process. Back to slimming world for me.

I had an MMC from my first FET at age 39 (single transfer but had split into identical twins, then stopped developing at around the 6 week point).

Now holding four month old DD from our second FET! We now think the first loss may have been due to underactive thyroid.

Sorry for your loss and wishing you all the best in the future x

Quartermaster-congratulations on your dd, incredible news hun.. Did you do anything differently during 2nd fet? Did you test your thyroid?

I was on clexane as I requested (not sure if nk cells) but didn’t have steroids alongside it so might see what consultant thinks.

Thank you Smile

Yes, so after the MMC they checked my thyroid and my TSH was around 4. For TTC they like it to be around 2, so they started me on levothyroxine (first of all 25mcg but this didn’t bring the TSH down enough so they upped it to 50mcg). Otherwise they gave me injectable progesterone support and not just the pessaries.
