I don't know if it really works but with my last baby I had reflexology when I was overdue and my waters went that evening. Probably coincidence but nice to have an hours relaxation having your feet massaged!

First time round I ate pineapple every day at the end because someone told me that would help. It didn't, and I've not been able to eat pineapple since!

I went for a really long walk the day before I gave birth and spent the evening bouncing on a gym ball. I think that helped, but it could just be a coincidence. DD1 was born at 40+9.

Pineapple
Curry
Sex
Long walks
I had some homeopathic stuff towards the end (can't remember the name sorry)
Bouncing on the exercise ball
Reflexology
I was also told a bj and swallowing works but I'm sure a man told me that 😂😂😂
Nipple twiddling!

Seriously I tried everything. (Apart from the BJ!) Unfortunately with my 3rd nothing worked and I was induced and he was born 16 days late.

I swear with my 2nd pushing dd1 on an incredibly heavy roundabout put me into labour that night but I can't prove that lol

I honestly think they come when they are ready but the idea of a nice autumn walk, some sex and a hot curry sounds lovely so go for it! 😀

Sorry to jump in late. Came across this and your comment @30somethingandtired made me giggle! Smile i did exactly the same and now even the smell makes me feel sick!
I tried all sorts with my 1st and nothing at all helped. I know i wont be trying pineapple again though! Halloween Grin

According to the book Expecting Better, it's all about the nipples.

I know its hard but try to relax, baby will come when they are ready. Feeling impatient or stressed will prevent labour starting. According to my midwife the only methods with evidence to support them are: sex, nipple stimulation, reflexology, accupuncture, massage, being active (walking/birth ball).

Gestation times are genetically influenced. I went 2wks past due with my first, and the others were between 7-10days past due. It runs in my family though.

Best thing you can do at this point is relax. Take a long shower. Get your partner to give you a lovely massage. Drink some raspberry tea. Labour will not come on if the mother is too stressed or too active. It’s a survival mechanism to ensure you don’t have a baby in the middle of fighting off a sabre tooth tiger.
