Hi all

After 2-years of trying and a few cycles of IVF, I've had my very first positive test - yay, it's been over 24-hrs and I still don't believe it!

Given the process has been very medical and not how I thought trying for a baby would be, I'd like to put a bit of surprise back in when I tell DH.

Please can you help me with some ideas.

Thanks!

My DP was with me when I got my BFP so I have no useful advice, I just wanted to jump on to say a massive congratulations!! Thanks I think any way you tell him will be perfect because you finally have your little miracle. YouTube has a lot of pregnancy reveal videos, maybe check there for some inspiration?

Everafter1 · 26/10/2019 01:02

Congratulations!!
I spent ages working out how I'd tell him when I got my positive, millie's cookie, balloon in box, gift bag with baby bits & bobs inside but ended up walking into the room with test in hand genuinely asking "is this a line?" 😂

He's going to be ecstatic no matter how he's told, anything you do he'll be thrilled. If he hears the words "I'm pregnant" it's going to make his day. I'm excited for you.

I went home from work as I was feeling poorly. Thought I'd do a test on a whim which came back positive. Ended up ringing DP at work as I couldn't keep it to myself, not my best moment Grin - it was a huge surprise!

mrssunshinexxx · 26/10/2019 07:54

@Mrbay I bought a 'daddy and me' baby grow and wrapped in in an a4 envelope and wrote our address on the front so he thought it was something work related

He was ecstatic Grin

Ohyesiam · 26/10/2019 07:58

Congratulations!

Just give him a cuddle and tell him, he will be ecstatic!

MrsEG · 26/10/2019 08:03

Huge congratulations! It’s completely up to you but as someone else has said, he is going to be over the moon now matter how you tell him! Xx

Mrbay · 26/10/2019 09:13

Thank you all!

I couldn't wait long enough to go shopping before I told him so I printed off a picture of baby on a motorbike and told him he had better start searching for a baby seat for the Harley!
Safe to save, he's pretty happy!

I got a photo of our dog and used baby pics app to add in 'I'm going to be a big brother' and 'due February 2020' and printed it Smile

fonxey · 26/10/2019 12:01

I just have him the test and the box and grinned like a dummy

Mrbay · 26/10/2019 13:04

Chucked the test at him in bed at 7am this morning!

becca3210 · 26/10/2019 14:16

Also had visions of nice ways to tell him etc. but when it came to it I was so shocked I just went in and woke him up and came out with it! :) he was delighted.

Bol87 · 26/10/2019 15:04

I just waved the sticks under his nose as soon as they turned positive 😂 I’m no good at keeping secrets!

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/10/2019 15:42

We tested together after the 2 ww. Ivf was so medicalised I don’t think either of us had any patience left.

nedflandereses · 27/10/2019 03:11

Called him on the phone crying Grin

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 27/10/2019 03:18

Congratulations!!

DS was unplanned, and we hadn't been dating long, so I just blurted it out over dinner. He was delighted!

cortex10 · 27/10/2019 04:50

DH knew before me - I POAS and left the test in the loo too scared to hope it was positive at last - DH retrieved it and came in grinning.

crazymuseummumtobe · 27/10/2019 08:04

Mine had gone out to get the test for me, then gone into the kitchen to do the washing up (he's a good lad). I'd daydreamed so much about how I'd look him when the time came, I ended up wandering into the kitchen, in shock, in my PJs, and saying 'Darling, I'm pregnant' while he was elbows deep in Fairy liquid! 😆

crazymuseummumtobe · 27/10/2019 08:06

... The anticlimactic nature of which I suppose makes up for him proposing in our bedroom on a Tuesday afternoon while kneeling on a pile of freshly laundered boxer shorts! 😆

PixieDustt · 27/10/2019 08:15

Congratulations!
When I had my BFP I remember just going into the living room waving my pregnancy test in his face 😂

Essexgirlupnorth · 27/10/2019 08:30

Can into the bedroom and told him his balls worked. We had been trying for two years for number 2 at that point

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 27/10/2019 08:47

Congratulations! Mine knew I’d gone to POAS so I just dashed back into the room where he was and blurted “it’s a yes”. Then we both sat on the floor and stared at the test for a while 😂

DustyOwl · 27/10/2019 08:50

My face as I came out of the toilet cubicle (we were travelling!) Shock That's the face we both pulled.

DustyOwl · 27/10/2019 08:50

(Massive congratulations. These stories make me feel quite emotional.)
