Acyclovir medication not helping

I had my first outbreak of herpes & was diagnosed at about 7 weeks pregnant. (No i didn't contract it while pregnant) After the diagnosis, the doctors never talked about it with me nor put me on a medication. I've been having outbreaks every month since the diagnosis/first outbreak. I read you're suppose to take herpes medication for the last 4 weeks of pregnancy. So when I was about 36 weeks I asked about taking a medication for it. I was prescribed acyclovir 400 mg, 2 times a day. It hasn't been helping at all. At 38 weeks now, I'm still getting outbreaks. I'm thinking about taking 3 a day to see if that works. But I'm also taking the prenatal pill and a pill for iron, I dont wanna take too much pills. I'm thinking about scheduling a C section since I'm not getting betterBlush Should I ask for a different pill?

I would suggest asking to see someone who has food knowledge of herpes. There are a couple versions and doses of the medication that they can use - you may suit another one better.

You need to speak to your midwife and get referred to a consultant asap. I was told that if I had an outbreak when I went into labour then I absolutely had to have a C-section, no questions asked.
