Hi all!

I am in need of some decent advice (I know Mumsnet is the place to go). The 'trying for a baby' urge has hit me hard and I'm all ready to go but I have recently moved to Luton and don't know if anyone else has had a baby at Luton & Dunstable hospital. Does anyone have any stories - good or bad to share with me? This will be my first baby and Im scared enough as it is so any advice would be excellant!!!

I used to live in harpenden and though I never had a baby at the L&D its always been a good enough hospital for all the other things my family have been there for.

Bugaboo,

I live in Luton and had my daughter 10 weeks ago at the L&D.

I will be completely honest with you, my experience was horrible - the midwives i had were awful and the after care was terrible too, tbh, felt like they couldn't arrange a piss up in a brewery!

I did have a particularly bad experience with my labour all together which i didn't feel was dealt with particularly well and i didn't feel the right decisions were made or any alternative options offered to me.
However, there have been others that have had their babies there and had a perfectly fine experience.

Dependant on what part of Luton you are in will depend on what ward you go on to after the birth - north Luton tends to be ward 32 which has just been re-done and is very clean and south luton tends to be ward 33 which is old looking but the senior midwife there is brilliant (SIL's Mum)!

Spring Chicken - now I'm crapping it aagh!! Ive heard loads of awful stories about midwives (that they are tough and uncaring) are these all true? yes you've guessed it - this will be my first baby so i'm not too sure of what is good/ not so good. but it looks like ward 33 is the place to go. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR ADVICE, now all i need to do is actually get pregnant, but thats a whole other story
