Mackeral Pate?

Is mackerel pate safe in pregnancy? There seems to be very conflicting information online about what we can / can't eat, or can / can't do!

Thanks in advance

Think any pate isn't supposed to eaten due to listeria risk

No, you’re not supposed to eat any type of pâté, including fish ones.

Having said that, I have eaten some myself as it was freshly made so I figured it wouldn’t have had time to breed any bacteria and therefore it was basically like eating smoked mackerel and crème fraîche, both of which are fine to eat.

You could maybe make your own so you know it's fresh and pasteurised? There's loads of lovely recipes online.

Remember too that NHS advises limiting oily fish to two portions a week, so don’t go mad!
