Pelvic Floor Exercises - Advice please!

Hi

I'm pregnant for the first time and currently 27+3.

I started off with good intentions about doing pelvic floor exercises every day but it just never happened - i found them uncomfortable and difficult and my good intentions just drained away. I'm now finding that I am having quite heavy discharge which my midwife says is normal (apologies if TMI) but i also feel quite wet at times and i'm not sure if i am leaking urine a little bit.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to do the exercises and work them into my everyday routine. How often a day do you do them? How do you know you are doing them properly? How long does it take before you notice a difference? Inspiration apreciated!

I do them every time I go to the loo - after I've finished my wee, I just do a few squeezes while wiping.

However, I have no idea if I'm doing them properly, and to be honest I don't notice a difference really as I think they're pretty good anyway. I believe the test is whether you can stop your wee mid-flow. I can, but due to a bladder condition I don't, because it hurts like hell!

Hi, don't do these exercises while weeing or you could land up with cystitis.

Why don't you do them every time you are standing waiting for the kettle to boil or while you brush your teeth every day so you get into a routine that you do several times a day? Its worth doing them, there is nothing more shocking than having leaks after your baby is born, give yourself the best chance you can.
