standing pull your knee to your chest (or as far as you can manage with bump/boobs/pain

this does help
get booked in to see an osteopath as well if you can afford it. mine was superb as I suffer from chronic sciatica

If your leg does start to give way, or you experience numbness/tingling in your groin area, or you cannot pee you need to see a Dr asap.

Good pain relieving positions are lying on your back with a couple of pillows under your knees, or lying on your side, pillow between your knees with the painful leg uppermost.

You can take paracetamol.

Hot packs will help (either the mcrowavable ones or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel).

Do not stay in one position for more than an hour, you need to take things easily, and avoid aggravating activities/movements, but you will improve quicker if you gently potter about. No lying in bed for 24hrs!

A physio dept will be able to lend you a TENS machine which can also help with pain relief.

Thanks for the replies.
Its not too bad once i get walking around but those first few minutes are quite bad.
I've got a heat pack somewhere so i will dig it out and take some paracetamol.

I used to suffer badly from sciatica (not sure where it's gone, just healed itself )

I was always told to alternate heat and cold on my back, 20 mins with an icepack (make sure it's wrapped in a towel so you don't burn your skin) and then 20 mins with a hotwater bottle. No more than 20 mins with each and alternate for as long as you can, time permitting.

Good luck, I hope it gets better.
