I am wondering if anyone can help me.
I earn right on the cusp of the smp low limit (around 136 a week but due to sickness it's been lower)
On the government's calculator I used (the employers one) it worked out that I earn 117.30 per week in the qualifying weeks but this was using my take home pay. I'm wondering (crossing my fingers and hoping honestly) if actually the numbers I should use in that calculator are not take home pay but pre deductions (pension and national insurance) which although are a pittance they may make up that 70pence difference.

Anyone able to shine a light on this?.

I think I used my take home pay and not what it would be before tax and NI.
Currently on SMP and was earning £300+ a week so SMP is really low 😩

Your should be using your gross pay, so before any deductions x

Yes it is worked out on your gross pay. Then you receive it minus tax and NI as you would do normal pay (although of course given it's so low you are unlikely to pay much on that!)
