5 weeks pregnant and booze?! Panic

Hi Ladies,
My wife and I are in a state of panic and would really appreciate your opinion.
We've been using natural cycles to help with TTC and whilst the app has been helpful it was a bit off because we found out today that my wife is 5 week pregnant.

We're really happy if a bit shocked but we're massively worried because we just came back from holidays and she had a bit to drink.

Nothing outrageous as she isn't a big drinker maybe 2 light beers a day. There was that one day where she had two cocktails too.

We're so worried - we know even one drink can be an issue but we didn't know. Does anyone have a previous experience or an opinion on this?

Thanks a lot

Honestly you both need to calm down. It will be fine. You are massively over thinking this. She 5 weeks not 5 months. Congratulations on your good news....

Congratulations! You baby will be absolutely fine. Loads of women I know drank (some, including me, much more than your wife!)before realising they were pregnant. Please don't give this another thought and enjoy your good news.

@Wannabegreenfingers @InDubiousBattle thanks a lot, you are probably right . We need to chill it's true but it's our first! ShockShock

The worry of the first never really goes away, but it makes for a really long 9 months. Easier said then done, but relax and enjoy this time. It feels like forever, but its absolutely tiny in comparison to the rest of your parenting lives :)

I found I was pregnant the day after my Christmas party and I definitely had more than two light beers! I was about 5 weeks too. My doctor told me not to worry and it's really common.

Definitely need to calm down. I'd say plenty of woman who drink have found themselves in this situation, myself included. I spent a wonderfully wild Christmas drinking and partying when we'd put ttc on hold for the festive season. Discovered on Jan 3 that I was pregnant (obviously with all the drinking we weren't careful enough Grin ). Dh had a gp appointment that week and I told him to tell the gp that I'd been drinking - she said it was fine.

My friend and I went on a 2 week 18-30 holiday to Zante.. so you can imagine the drinking that went on. She found out she was pregnant a few days after we got home. Her baby started high school this September and is absolutely fine.

Like others have said, take it easy and try not to stress - it's a very long 9 months.

I was in this situation but with a lot more alcohol! It takes a few weeks for the placenta to form so there really is no need to panic. Congratulations!!!
