Water craving

Hi all,

I’m 32 weeks. Had no craving so far apart from recently I’ve become obsessed with water. To the point I feel like I’m water logging ! It’s like I’m thirsty all the time. At my 28 week midwife appointment there was sugar in my urine. She said if next time there is also sugar in there she will send me for a diabetes test. It came back clear, no sugar.
Is this just me craving water or could it be Undiagnosed gestational diabetes? Should I go to the doctors or contact my midwife ?

Thanks xxx

Excessive thirst especially in cool months is not normal. I would call the midwife or gp

I have type 1 diabetes.
Before being diagnosed (aged 10) I was thirsty all the time - I mean 24/7. I used to get up in the middle of the night to drink from the bathroom tap.
If I was you, I'd speak to the GP.

I think thirst and craving water are different things. I craves both water and ice when I was pg not be a se I was thirsty, just because I wanted it. Excessive thirst Nedd further investigation

I craved water and I've in pregnancy too. I kept worrying something was wrong but all tests were clear. I drank 4-5 litres a day. Definitely keep an eye on it

I craved ice in my first trimester and when I researched it I found out that ice was part of the pica condition where you crave things that don't serve a nutritional purpose. Apparently iron deficiency can bring on pica cravings (I'm sure water is part of that condition too) so it might be worth getting your bloods checked for iron levels.
