I wonder if people can reassure me or tell me how to stop eating so much and so unhealthily!

I'm 8+2 and honestly all I want to do is eat!! And it's never healthy food and then I sit and feel awful and beat myself up about the crap I've eaten and then just bloody do it all over again!

I want my baby to be healthy and I don't want to be huge after giving birth... how do I crave fruit and veg instead?!

Truly I’d not fret. My friend had hyperemis with both her pregnancies. Her boys are now adults and the strongest, healthiest adults ever. One is in the territorial army and is the fittest person in his unit, the other is over 6’ and very fit too. My friend says all she could stomach for nearly 9 months was melon and crackers and she weighed less at the end of both pregnancies than she did before each. You might be more able to eat healthier stuff as your pregnancy progresses. But your baby will be fine as long as you’re eating. And you might feel more like less junky stuff as your pregnancy goes on. You could mention it to your midwife and see what she thinks but I’m sure you and baby will be fine.

Thank you for replying.

I am trying to eat more fruit and veg so that baby is getting some goodness! As well as lots of carbs.. oops!

I just don't want to be 50 stone heavier after birth as well... I am a proper worrier/overthinker

@HopefulHun I'm in the same boat as you! I do manage a lot of apples and oranges. But I also eat a ton of rubbish which really isn't like me, worried about the weight I will end up as I'm usually really petite and was at my lightest before falling pregnant

HopefulHun · 21/10/2019 16:03

Yeah agreed! I have to force myself on the fruit though I have to admit.

I'm the same, I'm 5foot and weighed around 7.11 before hand and I already think I now weigh 8stone and the baby is the size of a raspberry 😂 so no excuse really haha

I'm hoping as the pregnancy goes on we'll get better?

You won't make yourself crave it but if you are able to eat whatever you want make sure you have a bit of fruit or veg each day then at least you know you're having something good.

My baby's definitely dictated what I've ate, only been able to stomach certain things. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Changes daily.

nicannie · 21/10/2019 16:41

Haha I hear you. I'm 5ft 2 and was 8 stone 6 right before I fell! I won't even tell you what I'm at now it's sooooo bad! Over a stone though thats all your getting to know 😂😂 I'm 20werks now though is halfway. The cravings to eat junk had subsided but as I did it for all those weeks it's hard to not just continue doing. I am trying though!

I've learned to try not get to bogged down in the weight for now. I've lost a lot of weight before and know once baby is here I'll be able to be healthy and exercise again when the times right! As long as baby is healthy that's all I'm focusing on for now and not limiting myself too much on the junk I want to eat!

The fruit for me was an actual craving, I went through around 4-5 oranges a day for certain weeks and around 3 apples a day in the very early stage. My fruit cravings have ended now and I'm on to raw veg like carrots! That's this weeks thing lol

No advice I'm afraid. I'm 7 weeks today and all I can manage to eat is toast at the moment but that means I end up eating a slice every time I don't actually feel sick, which probably ends up being more than half a loaf a day. And that many carbs ain't good for no one. I put on 4 stone during my first pregnancy and I'm determined not to the do the same again this time, especially as I'm already a stone heavier than I was at the beginning last time. I wanted to continue with exercise but honestly don't have the energy right now. I wish I knew the answer!!!

elb1504 · 21/10/2019 17:41

Don't worry OP I was like that for weeks normally eating low carb and lots of fruit and veg and all I ate was everything bad!

It has subsided now at 16 weeks and I am eating less crap and more healthy stuff but still eating more food but I must need it.

I've 5ft2 and have put on about 7lbs so far but as long as you're eating and likelihood is it'll settle and you'll be back to old eating habits.
