Hi, I've been having a look at where I can buy good quality but not expensive baby blankets, towels, muslins etc. I've been looking at mothercare but I don't really have a mothercare near me and I never hear of anybody shopping there anymore, wondering if people still buy their baby bits there? Also just where else I can look. I'm not keen on George and our local Tesco isn't great for baby bits. For my first baby I bought a lot of things online from Tesco but they don't do the online shopping anymore

My go to for basics are M&S or John Lewis. Obviously you'll pay slightly more than supermarkets but I find it washes really well.

Have you tried tkmaxx? They have some really lovely quality blankets etc and obviously you can get a good designer deal as well!

I like the m&s stuff

Yes I still shop at Mothercare but like you, nearest one isn't local to me so choose home delivery.
I also got given a gift voucher for there and received a selection of their bits at my baby shower which were good quality.
I've recently got bits from Next and Boots, make the most of the baby events Smile

I still shop at Mothercare all the time! We have one nearby.. always sales on so def hang on for those! Clothes wash & wear nicely in my experience. Boxing Day sale is fabulous. Black Friday also quite good.

For cheap, washes well quality, H&M online is my go too. There is so much choice to suit all tastes really & free delivery over £20/free returns. Morrison’s have nice baby clothes ... & you can’t go wrong with Asda for staples such as vests & socks. I’m not overly keen on their actually clothes but plain white vests, socks & bibs.. as good a quality as you’ll get anywhere! I’ve also got some incredibly soft baby blankets & muslins from Primark. Again, I don’t love the clothes but they do have nice accessories!

Worth keeping an eye for Aldi baby events too, I bought their cellular blankets last time & they are really soft and washed brilliantly!

Iv just finished buying for baby number 3!!
I found matalan I got majority of my things from like bibs, winter hats, vests, you name it. I ordered it on matalan because it all washes lovely and they have a range now that looks like the traditional Spanish wear an it's beautiful and reasonably priced- as I used to spend 30+ on an outfit for my other two an I'm reluctant to do it anymore as they just get ruined with runny poos and sick lol they range from 5+! It's a bargain and good material, I shop their and George for my other 2 also!
Then I got an amazingggggg nursing bra from boohoo along with some nursing clothes. These seem to be best iv found so far and the bras are still sexy an lace with a bit of padding- Brilliant

Fab thank you everybody. Going shopping this week for baby bits so will have a look at matalan and I'll have another look at George too I think. I buy a lot from H&M for my dd but the babygrows don't seem to have feet which I find odd.

Yea I love them with feet and the built in mits!! I got a pack from Asda with them both in an their so cute. I washed and ironed all mine the other day ready an I'm giddy now lol the feeling never goes of how exited you get! An Boots do some nice stuff but you have to drop on in their I think , I find it can sometimes be a bit wacky patterns lol! Enjoy your baby shop!!! Xx

John Lewis! paid a little more but the muslins are the best we have (over mothercare and IKEA). Also they have everything so we got everything done in one go (apart from furniture, we only bought a chest of drawers anyway).
For clothes, again we mostly go for John Lewis especially babygrows/PJs. Their own brand have feet and wash so well! We only failed on getting his current size as I bought the size up accidentally and the closes JL is a half hour train away.
Boots quality is lovely but the sizing confuses me (his 6-9 months from Boots is bigger than 9-12 months at JL)
Also carters, which is difficult to get in the UK but they make some lovely ones with feet.

Although I am in the same shoes as you with not having a mothercare close by or matalan so when we go shopping we tend to stick with what we know, or i'd be out all day.
