Hi

Sorry not the most delicate subject but do any of you find you notice baby moving less if you are constipated?

I'm sure he moves just as much just I can't feel it so much? Don't want to get worried yet as he was very active during the night but just haven't felt him in a little while and have been noticing that I don't feel him as much when I am a bit constipated.

Thanks

I've not personally noticed this but you could just be focusing more on the fact your constipated so not noticing baby moving. If you get reduced movements though then go and get checked out to be on the safe side xx

Hi,

I have noticed the same! I am 31 weeks and asked my midwife last week about this and she said she has never heard of it! She said any concern about reduced movements then to call maternity.
However I have IBS and have definitely noticed his movements are not as noticeable during the day if I have a flare up, eat spicy food etc.

I have looked online but couldn’t see anything about this so it’s interesting to notice that you have experienced it too!

I suffer bad constipation @Jsnb9319. I have noticed considerable reduced movements if I haven’t been to the toilet in 3-4 days :( and as soon as I go the baby goes crazy! I’ve been twice now to the unit panicking about reduced movements and I have now noticed it’s when I haven’t been for a poo! I thought I was going mad. I’m almost glad I’m not on my own with this because I’m sure people think I’m mad! Xx

Thanks ladies! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels it, as unpleasant as it is for all of us!

Yes I have felt this too!

Same here. Constipated for nearly 48 hours now and reduced fetal movement. Must be to do with the lack of space. Sorry for TMI. But surely if you're backed up more that 2 days there cannot be much room left in there. Poor babies!

Can I just add for anyone reading this thread, regardless if you think the reduced movements are due to constipation or not please can you ring your midwife and get checked out. They don’t care if you have to go in once or 100 times for reduced movements I would hate for someone not to ring and for something wrong not to be picked up

So glad to see this feed. I came looking for it, it’s definitely a thing. If I feel sluggish and low in energy, seems silly to think that baby wouldn’t too if we’re sharing the same polluted blood from being so constipated.
Thanks for sharing all.

i googled it and brought me here, I thought I was the only one that thought it. But yes I noticed this aswell. I havent been feeling my little one move as I was so constipated and today I finally went and unloaded (3 times) and all of the sudden I feel her moving more.
