Painful hands

I'm 32 weeks.
Past few days I've been waking with sore, aching hands. Feels like I've been lifting weights with each finger.

I've not had massive amounts of swelling but they are looking a bit more puffy now.

Does anyone else get this and does it go away after birth?

I’ve had this... I’m 34 weeks and have woken up with achy hands a few times in the last couple of weeks. I thought I had maybe slept on them funny or something! Seems to get better through the day though so I’m not worried.

Sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome, if so try splints and it should go soon after birth.

I have this and painful wrists. As pp said I've been told it sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome and you can get wrist supports and physio. Mine are getting worse each day unfortunately.

Just be careful with swelling. And tell your midwife when you next see her x

Thanks everyone!

Does carpal tunnel make the fingers stiff?

I'll definitely try supports and mention it to mw.
I've been massaging them but it's not doing much. Fingers feel like they're 90 yrs old 🙈

I had this! I'd wake up and my hands would be almost frozen stuck. It was completely gone a week after I gave birth. Tried the gloves and nothing helped.

Everafter1 · 19/10/2019 14:49

Yeah @fee1234 that's what it's like.
That's good to know it went after birth.

It's annoying as it came on all of a sudden & they're stiff as.

I had it last time and the only thing that really helped with me was soaking my hands in warm water and gently massaging/stretching them. It went away pretty quickly after ba y arrived.
