Exhausted at 17 weeks

Hi,

Just wondered if it's normal to be feeling completely exhausted at 17 weeks pregnant?

I've got a 2 year old and also work 4 days a week, so don't really have time to rest, but definitely don't recall feeling anywhere near this tired with first pregnancy.

I can sleep the whole night through and wake up feeling completely shattered.

Someone tell me this is going to end soon??

Yep I'm a little ahead, but I'm physically tired, but so much mentally. My legs ache already. Just putting my feet up to MN before the preschool run. Been out doing errands and cleaned the house too. Had all my blood tests and gestational diabetes test and all fine. It so worth mentioning to your midwife, as they might want to check your for gestational diabetes ( usually sometime after 20 week scan )

I think there's something in having a second. It's not all dreamy, you know the reality. Plus having a child already is tiring. My 3 year was awake at 5.30am needing the toilet and whilst he managed to go back to sleep for a bit, I didn't.

I think if everything is going ok and you are trying to eat well. Then take a daily pregnancy multi vitamin and then you just have to accept you can't do it all. So not much help sorry but solidarity Smile

Aw thanks very much!

Glad it's not just me then! I contacted the midwife this morn and have had some more blood tests in case iron etc low. Kind of hoping that is the case so that there is a solution, but dreading it if not!!

Only 5 months left....

Absolutely normal. The first trimester is HARD. Exhausting but not showing yet so none of the sympathy you get in the third.

The second isn't too bad and it's not far off for you now, hang in there and be kind to yourself

I’m 17 weeks too and seemed to feel a bit better around week 15 then last week I’ve had a cold but have been wiped out since. No matter how much I sleep, eat healthy and take my vitamins - I could sleep all day and have no energy to do anything.

Im 25+5 with my 3rd and I've been drained since first trimester. I think its completely different when you have other children to look after as you dont get as much rest as you possibly should. My legs and arms are constantly achey asif I've been running and working out lol. My back is killing and my eyes I dont even feel like I have them open half the time I'm that tired lol fingers crossed for you that you get some energy soon xx

Glad they are checking your iron, easy to become anaemic in pregnancy! But I agree, pregnancy with another child is blooming hard! I went to the local park & for a little walk with my daughter this morning & I’m collapsed on the sofa while she naps! The house needs tidying and hoovering but I just can’t move!

Same here OP. I am 27 weeks with a 2 Yr old and have been exhausted from the start. It's worth checking your iron levels as PP suggested. I was put on extra iron but it hasn't done much, I think it is a case that chasing a toddler and being pregnant is just way way harder. Every opportunity, I have my feet up and I have had to cut back on some of my usual things. I exercised until 38 weeks last time, nothing going on with this one! Hang on in there.
