Long car journey 26 weeks - do I need a pregnancy seat belt adjuster?

I'm travelling from Hampshire on the South Coast up to Glasgow next week to visit my family and we need to drive as we are taking the dog.

I'm used to doing long car journeys as both my family & my DH's family live in the Midlands or Scotland and as I'm diabetic we tend to take more breaks as normal practice.

I'm just worried about what would happen if we had an accident and the seat belt would cause damage across my bump, then I saw this product (photo attached) that means you're safe but that the belt isn't right on your bump. Is this necessary or just another pointless pregnancy product?

Pointless and could be dangerous too as it might interfere with the seatbelt. The official advice is to wear your seatbelt under your bump.

Agreed. It's a gimmick. Tuck the belt under your bump, it will be fine.

Agree with others my midwife told me to just wear the belt under the bump.

If you are going to buy one of those type of things I would do alot of research into their safety. Specifically what test were carried out to say they are more safe then just going under the bump before considering their use.

Just put the belt across your lap under the bump

The clippasafe ones just help to keep the lap belt under your bump. I've used one since about 24 weeks. Makes it a lot more comfortable.

I have something similar to your pic and it’s fantastic! I feel far more comfortable with the bottom band over my legs rather than under my bump

I did a lot of car travel between weeks 28 and 32 (longest 6 hours) and just had the belt under my bump and took regular breaks :)

I've not felt any discomfort at all with having the belt under my bump and I'm 34 weeks and huuuge (and generally uncomfortable all the time too). In fact driving is one of the times I am most comfortable!

Put the seat belt under your bump. You'll be fine

Under the bump!
