I'm 22 weeks and still haven't been given my MATB1 form. When are these supposedly given?

Any time after 20 weeks. Whens your next appointment?

ChikiTIKI · 17/10/2019 14:50

You need to ask your midwife for one. Usually first appointment after 20 week scan.

faelavie · 17/10/2019 14:52

I was never given one at my appointment, I ended up asking my GP surgery for one. They gave me the form but wouldn't get a GP to sign it because I was under the midwives' care so I had to take it to the midwives for them to sign it for me.
Same thing happened with the prescription exemption form!

littlemissalwaystired · 17/10/2019 14:55

Where I work you just ring the GP surgery after your 20 week scan, then when the midwife is next in she'll complete one and leave it at reception for you. Otherwise it'll be offered at your next appointment.

Im 26 weeks & dont have one, what do I need it for?! Thanks! Confused

HeartvsHead · 17/10/2019 15:03

The appointment after the scan is when you usually get it.

Most employers will want it as part of you maternity leave application.

Make sure you take a copy of it as HR teams are often really rubbish at returning them and your partner will usually also need to show it for paternity leave application. Some midwives will give two copies but a lot won't!

You need it for your employer so you can get maternity pay/leave

Mintypea5 · 17/10/2019 15:08

My trust give them at your 25 or 28 week appointment. If your employer insists on having by bang in 25 weeks then you can call and ask midwife to leave it for you

dementedpixie · 17/10/2019 15:11

The employer doesnt even need it at 25 weeks

Veganmedic · 17/10/2019 15:14

My midwife is hopeless and forgets all these sort of things. Luckily I saw someone else today at my 25 week appointment who immediately said I’d be needing it. So for me 25 weeks

Bol87 · 17/10/2019 15:17

My midwife said it’s at the appointment after your 20 week scan, so either 25 or 28 depending on if it’s your first or subsequent pregnancies. But she also said I could ring the maternity unit on the front of my notes and they’ll just post one out to me anytime!

1990carey · 17/10/2019 16:26

Hi guys, I got mine at about 25 weeks, make sure to ask your midwife for it if shes not said anything about it. Also if you hand it into work a few weeks late it doenst really matter too much tbh so don't worry too much.

MoaningMyrtle96 · 17/10/2019 16:30

Perfect, thanks for everyone's help.

I have a consultant appointment next week and a midwife appointment at 25 weeks. I'll chase it up then!
