Hi everyone, I need a little bit of help. Just had my first positive pregnancy test this morning 😁 I had been experiencing symptoms so did a test and had a nice clear line. Problem is, my last af was really weird. Only lasted 3 days and only one day of actual bleeding which was really light. If I conceived during ovulation after that then that would make me 3 weeks from 1st day of period which I thought would be way too early to a) show up on a test and B) cause any symptoms. If it was the month before then that would make me about 7 weeks which makes far more sense. Except, we hardly dtd once in September and not in my fertile window! So just wanted to ask, is it actually possible for me to be only 3 weeks and have a positive test?

It's unlikely, but with anything biological, it's imprudent to say 'never'

Higher levels more rapidly with multiples, but not sure how early that might show.

Arrange to see MW, explain you're not sure of your dates, and then do what they recommend (early scan, probably)

Oh multiples 😱 yes, I'll call the gp tomorrow, good idea.

You could try a clearblue weeks indicator test which would give you a 1-2 or 3+ result. I got a positive on a test at 7dpo once, but it was very faint. Good luck and congratulations!

Your last AF sounds like it could have been an implantation bleed (I had the same with both pregnancies).

I was unsure about my dates so I did one of the clear blue tests and I was further than I thought I was, I was 6 weeks when I thought I was only 3 weeks because of a similar very light period. The nhs weren’t overly helpful with giving me an earlier scan so I also paid for a private one as I didn’t want to wait weeks to find out how far along I was.

Vio112 · 16/10/2019 08:27

Yes, I'll do a clear blue tonight, that will probably help. My line was lighter than the control but clearly visible. Do you think it should be darker if 7 weeks? I thought last period was implantation bleed at the time so I tested a week later and had a bfn and assumed it must be a v short af. Plus, this would be a bit of a miracle baby if I am 7 weeks, didn't even bother to record when we dtd as so sure it couldn't get us pregnant.

I took a last test at about 6 weeks (a FRER) and the control line was fainter than the pregnant line. My hcg levels were so Hugh the colour literally got sucked from the control line 😂

The only way you'll know for sure is a scan. I would just tell the gp you don't know when your last period was and they should scan you. With previous pregnancies I had to do this as I wasn't tracking and had no period after stopping the pill xx

Boymummy3 · 16/10/2019 10:14

Tbh you wont get an early scan they dont just do them because of unknown last period. They will go of what you thought was your last period because that's the last time you bled it will only be then your 12 week scan that you will know for sure unless you book privately for an early scan. As above have said get a clear blue if it says 3+ then you are around 5-6 weeks pregnant or more which will probally then make you around the 7 weeks you think you possibly are. Some women do get positive tests really early it all depends on the levels of hcg. X

Ok I will do. Thanks so much for replying everyone, I really appreciate it! 💕

I had weird/Irregular periods and despite knowing when I ovulated there was a serious debate about how pregnant I was from first BFP-12 week scan.

Gp/midwife/private scan all were 1-2 weeks out. It was only at our ‘12 week’ scan they determined I was 14 weeks and brought my due date forward. I honestly wouldn’t pay too much attention until the 12 week scan, give them the dates they ask for and let them go from there! Xx

Let us know what Clearblue says Smile

Vio112 · 16/10/2019 16:39

I will ☺️ feeling a little nervous about testing again. I'm just so thirsty ALL the time!! I've been drinking water all day but still thirsty and have a dry mouth. Anyone have the same symptoms?

Pregnant 1-2 😊 so must be 3 weeks + 2 as my app says. Now I'm a little nervous about the whole multiples/hcg thing 😅
