Measuring 3 weeks bigger on 20 week ultrasound

I had an ultrasound today and I'm measuring 25+3 but I should be measuring 22+2. Has anyone else had this?! If yes, is there a reason for it? I have to go and have a GTT earlier than 28wks but they'll phone me to tell me when. Can anyone offer reassurance? The sonographer was quite rude saying that it's probably a fat baby. Not sure if it was her tone that upset me, but I did leave the hospital really overwhelmed.

Many thanks in advance!!

My daughter was always three weeks ahead. Her tummy circumference was 4 weeks in front so I was having extra growth scans! Had an elec c section at 39 weeks and they predicted me a 10lbs 5oz baby! However, I actually gave birth to a 7lbs10oz baby! Take it with a pinch of salt and be pleased that you may get additional scans and get to see your baby a bit more!

If they’re calling it a fat baby then it’s probably just the AC they are worried about. My baby has measured ahead too but based on HC and FL and so my GTT test was just a formality and booked because of my race rather than the baby size. Even now at 32 weeks my bump is measuring at the top of my growth curve, so I will probably need another growth scan later on.

Hey I'm 25 weeks and bump is measuring in at 28 weeks... had go for a a growth scan yesterday babys belly is measuring bigger than the rest of him so hes going to have a chubby belly. His estimated weight if I go term will be 10lb 1oz but basically hes following his own line which is good... your baby is probally the same plus my sonographer told me dont take no notice of what the scans say asin growth etc just go off your chart instead. I would honestly take these scan/growth predictions with a pinch of salt. I was always measuring a few weeks behind and was told we would be lucky to have a 6lb baby at full term. She was born one day late at 8lb4oz.

Thanks to everyone who replied! Had a call from the hospital today and they want me to go in tomorrow for a GTT and another scan. If the GTT is clear then they're changing my due date, which I think is a bit dangerous as second trimester scans aren't as accurate as first trimester scans. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

How did your scan go OP?

LarryPO · 21/10/2019 07:47

I didn't think anyone else is having another scan?

Sorry! My brain! Still measuring 3 weeks ahead and waiting on GTT results

I dont think changing your due date is dangerous. Is just gives you an idea of when to start mat leave etc.
If you get to (your new) 40 weeks and they start suggesting induction etc. You can say no.
