growth scans.....

I had my 28 week appointment this morning and I’m measuring 2 weeks behind. They were very efficient and I’m having a growth scan first thing Saturday morning. Hoping there is no issues. I keep telling myself it’s how he’s lying etc. Both the student and midwife commented on how high my pubic bone is as well so that could be contributing to it.

Anyone else had a growth scan at this point?

Plus side I get to see my boy again :) xx

yes, 28 weeks midwife measured me 4 weeks behind. Growth scan indicated he/she was bang on size for 28 weeks.

When I was expecting my baby I had to have about 5 (I think - lost count) growth scans. Too big, too small. Every single time it was a false alarm!

Starlight84 · 15/10/2019 15:33

Yes that’s what I’ve read that when you have the scan everything is fine! Xx

Recently been through this, first scan the lady said he was ‘really tiny’ went for 2 more and although he is small for my BMI etc he will be born weighing over 7lbs on their estimate. Don’t panic! It’s better for them to be over cautious I think x

I had growth scans every 2 weeks from 28 weeks as I was consistently measuring below the 10th centile.
I was Induced at 37 weeks and she was 5lb 3oz.

Starlight84 · 15/10/2019 16:57

@Nemchen absolutely! I’d rather be checked for sure. I really don’t understand all the centile things 🙈 xx

@starlight84 all the centile thing is the distribution of all pregnancies so if you lie on 50% it means that you're slap bang in the middle, so half of all other foetuses will be larger, and half will be smaller. It's not linear though so most will be bunched in the middle somewhat (not sure about the actual distribution, but say for example between 30 & 70%). Someone has to be at the far extreme because of the way it works, so although it makes medical professionals want to double check everything is ok, it may well be that you just fall in that zone completely naturally. Good luck for your scan 🤞

Starlight84 · 15/10/2019 17:08

Thank you :) I’m sure all will be ok and I get an extra scan! An extra sneaky peek! X

When you go and they tell you the estimated weight they can tell you his estimated FT birth weight estimation. That put me at ease because my ‘really tiny’ baby was always estimated over 6lb10! X

I just had a growth scan at 25 weeks because my bump was measuring 4 weeks ahead! When had my scan although baby has a chubby belly he is growing nicely on his own line albeit the top line but my last baby was bigger too so probally why. They will just want to double check everything incase.. and as you say yes you get to see baba again which is fab :) xx

GrumpyHoonMain · 16/10/2019 10:29

I went for a private growth scan as my bump was below the bottom line at 28 weeks. Baby was actually found to be bigger (close to the middle line). 4 weeks on my bump is now just under the top line and I have been told if it gets any larger I will get an NHS growth scan.

I had growth scans when i was pregnant with DS because my bump was 2 weeks behind at 28 weeks, i honestly thought they were making a fuss, 2 weeks behind didnt seem much and im petite aswell

I had to have scans every 2 weeks after that because he wasnt growing, at 33 weeks they said they wanted to induce us at 37 weeks, he was born weighing 4lb 13oz at 37 weeks and he was 29cm. He was so small. I have pictures of him next to my DD's dolls and the dolls were twice the size of hin
