Baby only just above 10th centile

Hi,

I am pregnant with baby #2.
Baby no1 always measured above average but this baby is measuring only just above the 10th centile. I am 31+5 measuring 29cm.
Midwife said if baby follows or dips below 10th centile I would have a growth scan.
Should I be concerned or is being just above the 10th centile classed as being a healthy size?

TIA

By definition 10% of babies have to be below the 10th centile. DS kept going above and below the 10th centile line and I had to have a few growth scans because of it. I was terrified (I'd had quite a lot of problems getting to that point) but the scans all showed he was just fine and he was born a very healthy 7lb1 at 39 weeks. I know it's hard not to worry but you're measuring in the normal range, just near the bottom of it.

They will only be cautious if it drops outside the usual range.
At 28 weeks I was measuring (fundal measurement) under the 5th percentile so was sent for a growth scan. Growth scan confirmed baby was tracking the 50th percentile.
The fundal measurement then tracked the 50th percentile all the way through. Baby was eventually born on 79th so a little larger than the 50th they'd been measuring.

Mine is below the 10th centile and I’m having to have extra scans. Not too worried as some babies are naturally genetically small, as my first was. It’s possible to have a small but healthy baby.

My dd measured just above the 10th centile all through the pregnancy. She was 6lb 7oz and had to have her blood sugars tested every 2 hours shortly after birth. She’s perfectly fine though (now 4) and perfectly in proportion given the size of myself and dh!

Thank you everyone I was just a little worried because as I said my first was always above average and I know they say usually second babies and slightly bigger. But then again they also say every baby / pregnancy is different. I’m just an over thinker!! Smile xx
