hi,

has anyone ever had experience of babys growth dropping off? she is in normal range (although on the low side for weight at 15th centile) and my bump is also pretty small for gestation (33 weeks). we had the growth scan on Friday and I was spoken to after and told that compared to her growth scan 2 weeks previously she had not grown as much as expected. they said it could either be that they over estimated on the last one or that her growth has indeed slowed down. however I now need to wait until next Friday for another growth scan to find out what is going on. I'm very concerned something could happen in that time if it is a placenta issue. however they said the blood flow and fluid level looked great so they were not too concerned atm. they said if the growth is still slow at next scan there is a possibility of early delivery but it's okay as she would be 35 weeks and at that gestation would not have too many problems would just be small. I've been okay over the weekend but starting to panic a bit again now :(

anyone have any experience of this? x

I was induced at 37 weeks due to consistent growth below the 10th centile. She was 5lb 3oz and perfect in every way. She's now 14 weeks old and weighs about ten pounds. Finally out of newborn clothes last week!

I had the same scare this pregnancy at 32 weeks was measuring 30 on a scan...But my next scan at 34 showed growth of 1lb which they were really happy with...so I've been left too it until my csection at 39 weeks (unrelated to growth) next week!...I was so worried like you are...Wondering if/when she had stopped/slowed growing and what sort of tiny baby I could possibly be delivering early...But she jumped up onto the 10th centile line at my 34 week re scan...And they are happy she is following her own growth curve...I think that's all they want to see...that they follow their own growth line.Good luck!x

I really hope I have a similar outcome! and that she will put on by next scan. I have really quite bad anxiety anyway and then this on top has really not helped. my main worry is if it is a placenta issue and having to be so on the ball with movements - what if I'm not quick enough etc :( I have monitoring today on the trace machine so I might mention to them that I'm having a hard time after being told babys growth looks to have slowed to then having to wait a week in between. hoping they might agree to regular ctg tests from now until the 25th just until we know for sure whether or not it was just we caught her before a growth spurt/the scan before was over estimated or if there is reason to be concerned xx

I suffer with anxiety/ocd aswell...so I'm exactly the same regarding movements.I hate the responsibility of me having to know what's right/wrong...its really stressful. And I felt the same about being left 2 weeks for a scan and was worried sick what could happen in between if the growth was due to a placenta issue...but they reassured me if the placenta was fine at the last scan...Not a lot can go wrong in that time...(sounds rediculous) but it's what they said...I think they done with me what you think...they scanned me at 31+5 for my 32 week scan and said she looked more 30 weeks...But all the books & apps I've read says babys start gaining fat at 32 weeks...So I think they just measured her a bit to early seeing as she caught up by a whole pound within 2 weeks which is bang on what they expect...I always read on here how growth scans are wrong a lot of the time and they do cause so much worry...But it's a good thing the hospital checks...as much as it worrys us...Its better safe than sorry...Good luck with the scan!My thoughts are you will be just fine x
