Cervical Stitch/cercelage help please

I had a cervical stitch placed on Wednesday due to two previous cone biopsies. I am 16 weeks and 5 days today.

I also had one with my DS but much earlier at 12 weeks. The doctors measured my cervix this time around and although it was in normal limits they still suggested I went ahead.

Having had two miscarriages this year, I was extremely anxious to do anything that would “upset” things but agreed as, well, I’m not a doctor.

Anyway, as I said, it was placed on Wednesday with a spinal anaesthetic. When it wore off I felt immense pains and was kept in hospital overnight. Went home on Thursday only to start bleeding on Friday morning (hadn’t previously). I went back to the hospital and they said and I quote, “you’ll either go into labour or you won’t”

They couldn’t tell me what the bleeding was from, but did listen the baby’s heartbeat (all sounding okay).

Today I have woken up to cramping and I am panicking. The bleeding (a lot when I wipe) hasn’t stopped.

Has anyone else experienced this after a stitch? I just wish I knew if it was something bad happening or whether it’ll be okay. I know no one can tell me that.

Please tell me of your experiences...

i have no previous experience of this but do have a permanent stitch in place. all i can strongly suggest is to get yourself back into hospital and get checked out please op. it could be something and it could be nothing.

Hi busy - thanks so much for your response. I did go back and that’s what what they said,

“You’ll either go into labour or you won’t” “The bleeding will stop or it won’t”

So unkind and unhelpful - just made me cry!! . I was only discharged last night and as nothing in particular has changed I can imagine they won’t be impressed with me turning up again! Not really sure they can do anything??

I didn't have the stitch as was too far along when my cervical problems were picked up and it would have been risky, but I found this website/forum extremely helpful for all things relating to this. Sorry you're going through this, hope someone can shed some light on it www.keepemcookin.com/

Thank you - I will look it up!

Hi, I just came across your thread, hope you are doing well, I had the stitch put in 3 weeks ago, I had some light bleeding and cramping. I'm quite surprised the doctors can't do anything or give you an answer as to why you are bleeding. If you don't mind me asking how many weeks are you? I know how hard and stressful a situation like this can be, try and stay positive and take it easy. Wishing you lots of luck Thanks
